Raj Kundra’s plea against arrest dismissed by Bombay HC

  • The businessman who was arrested in a pornography case is currently in judicial custody

Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Saturday dismissed a petition by businessman Raj Kundra against his arrest in the pornography case. The petition by his associate Ryan Thorpe, too, has been dismissed.

Raj Kundra, husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, and Ryan Thorpe had challeged their arrest for alleged involvement in a case of creation and streaming of adult content. They had also sought immediate release from custody.

The Mumbai Crime Branch had seized videos with adult content from his premises. On Friday, the four employees of Raj Kundra’s company, who had turned witnesses earlier, recorded their statements before the magistrate.

During the day, actress Sherlyn Chopra was questioned in connection with the case at Crime Branch’s Property Cell Office.

Raj Kundra was arrested on July 19 by the Mumbai Crime Branch on July 19. After seven days of remand in police custody till July 27, he was sent to 14-day judicial custody. He is currently in judicial custody.
