- Last year, public Navratri festivities had been cancelled because of Covid-19 pandemic
Ahmedabad: Garba enthusiasts waiting eagerly for Navratri this year are in for some disappointment. Rajpath and Karnavati Clubs, both popular garba venues of Ahmedabad, have decided to give a miss to the festival celebration this year as well.
Last year, there were no public Navratri celebrations because of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, this year, with very few cases of Covid-19 in the state and the city, enthusiasts had hoped that they would be able to enjoy the dance festival.
In a major disappointment to revellers who waited through the year for the garba events organized by these two clubs, they have decided to cancel this year’s events as well.
Apparently, the cap of 400 for participants is the reason behind the decision.
As per the guidelines related to Covid-19, announced by the state government earlier, a maximum of 400 persons will be allowed to gather at an open venue for political, social, educational, cultural or religious events.
This year, too, the big organizers are likely to avoid organizing garba.
Navratri begins on October 7 this year.
