Nitish Kumar wants CBI probe in Sushant’s death case

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday recommended a CBI probe in the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Notably, the actor’s father KK Singh had requested Nitish Kumar for a CBI probe in the case.

The case is being parallel investigated by Bihar and Mumbai police.

Nitish Kumar said that Bihar is recommending a CBI probe in the case after the late actor’s family gave its consent for the same.

Maharashtra CM not in favour of CBI probe

While Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has recommended a CBI probe in Sushant’s death case, his Maharashtra counterpart Uddhav Thackeray has ruled out a CBI investigation. In fact, the Maharashtra government has clarified that Mumbai police is competent enough to ensure a fair probe in the case.

Sushant’s father blames Mumbai police

Actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s father KK Singh has accused the Mumbai accused of not reacting when he informed them about a threat to his son’s life months ago. “On February 25, I informed Bandra police that the life of my son was in danger. He died on June 14 and I asked them to act against people in my complaint. No action was taken even 40 days later,” Singh told a news agency.

SC to hear Rhea’s plea tomorrow

The Supreme Court is likely to hear a petition filed by Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty on Wednesday (August 5). Rhea has challenged the Bihar police’s role in the investigation in Sushant’s death. She has also sought the transfer of the FIR filed in Patna by the actor’s family to Mumbai.

“There can’t be any transfer of a case to the CBI when Bihar had no legal basis to get involved. Bihar has no jurisdiction. So its recommendation for a CBI probe has no legal sanctity,” said Rhea’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde.

Sushant had bipolar disorder

Mumbai police on Monday said the late actor was suffering from bipolar disorder. It added that Sushant was undergoing treatment for his mental health condition.

Police commissioner Param Bir Singh said, “It has come to surface that he had bipolar disorder. He was undergoing treatment and taking medicines for it. What circumstances led to his death is the subject of our investigation.”

The 34-year-old actor was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his Bandra home in Mumbai on June 14. The Mumbai police had then prima facie found it to be a case of “death by suicide”.
