JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar, on Monday, is all set to take oath as the chief minister of Bihar for the fourth time in a row. Nitish Kumar was unanimously elected as the leader of the NDA Legislature Party on Sunday.

The meeting was also attended by defence minister Rajnath Singh who announced that Nitish Kumar has been elected as the leader of NDA in Bihar. Following the meeting, Nitish Kumar went to meet the Bihar governor to stake claim to form the government in Bihar.

The other issues that were up for discussion at the meeting included the representation of each constituent in the Cabinet and the election of the new Assembly speaker.

The crucial meeting came days after the NDA emerged victorious in a cliffhanger contest. The NDA managed to win 125 seats while the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan gave a strong fight and won 110 seats.

New decade of Bihar: PM Modi

Despite JD(U)’s poor performance in Bihar election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reposed his faith in CM Nitish Kumar. He took to Twitter to congratulate the voters of Bihar for supporting NDA. He posted a series of tweets in this regard.

He had said: “The youth of Bihar have made it clear that new decade will be of Bihar and for self-reliant Bihar. People’s blessings to NDA’s good governance even after 15 years of rule show what are Bihar’s dreams and expectations.”

“Bihar taught the world the first lesson of democracy and today again it has told the world how democracy is strengthened. I assure every citizen of Bihar that NDA govt will work with full dedication for balanced development of every person, every region.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah had also thanked the people of Bihar. In a series of tweets in Hindi, Shah said, “Bihar has once again chosen the development politics of NDA and has rejected casteism and appeasement politics. I thank all the brothers and sisters of the state from the core of my heart for re-choosing development, progress and good governance.”
