Nitin Patel casts vote, wishes BJP candidates


Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel on Sunday cast his vote along with his family in his home district Mehsana’s Kadi taluka.

Notably, voting for the second phase of civic polls is going on in Gujarat today. Average voting is reported in many districts till 12:30 pm. Ahmedabad and Surat have reported around 12 per cent voting, whereas Bhavnagar has reported 13 per cent voting. At the same time, Rajkot has reported 14 per cent voting. Overall, 18.5 per cent voting is reported in Gujarat.

Nitin Patel wishes BJP candidates

Before going to the polling station, Nitin Patel tweeted and wished BJP candidates success in the civic polls. He wrote, “I would like to wish the BJP candidates contesting today’s municipality, taluka panchayat and district panchayat elections a lot of support and blessings from the voters. I wish the BJP candidates success in the elections.”

Bharatsinh Solanki casts vote

Former Union minister and Congress leader Bharatsinh Solanki also voted in his constituency. Apart from this, Jitu Chaudhary, an MLA from Kaprada in Valsad, exercised his franchise in Kakkar Kopar village. Notably, the BJP secured a thumping victory in the recently concluded municipal corporation elections.

Second phase of civic polls

In the second phase of local body polls in Gujarat, voting is going on for 81 municipalities, 31 district panchayats and 231 taluka panchayats on Sunday. Since the morning, people have queuing outside polling stations and are exercising their franchise under the COVID-19 guidelines. The counting of votes will be held on March 2.
