New Delhi: Government think tank Niti Aayog released its annual Health Index report on Monday.

Kerala tops the list of larger states in terms of performance in the health sector, as per Niti Aayog’s report titled ‘The Healthy States, Progressive India’.

This is the fourth edition of the survey which has 24 indicators to assess health performance and track overall performance and incremental performance in the area of health.

While Kerala is at the top, Uttar Pradesh has fared the worst for the reference year 2019-20. However, it is ranked top in terms of incremental performance, having registered the highest incremental change from 2018-19 to 2019-20.

Tamil Nadu is the second place, followed by Telangana.

Among the smaller states, Mizoram is the best performing one in both overall and incremental performance.

Among Union Territories, Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir ranked at the bottom in overall performance, but were leading in incremental performance.

The report was released by Niti Aayog vice-chairman Dr Rajiv Kumar and CEO Amitabh Kant
