Nithyananda case: Four more Parents File Habeas Corpus


AHMEDABAD: While the self-styled god man Swami Nityanand has fled the country investigation in the case is ongoing. It has been alleged that children were forcefully held captive at the Ashram situated in DPS campus near Hathijan area of Ahmedabad and an investigation is underway.

Earlier the parents of the 2 daughter’s had filed habeas corpus petition and sought Courts help to bring their daughters back. Now, four more persons have filed habeas corpus petitions in the Gujarat high court on Tuesday and sought the court’s directions to the police and child welfare authority to produce their children, living at the Yogini Sarvajnapeetham in Ahmedabad before the court.

Girish Rao, Mani Ramalingam, Sathish Selvakumar and Anilkumar B S, the four petitioners have alleged that their children are not allowed to leave the ashram and they are not permitted to meet them. The cops also do not permit parents to enter the ashram to meet their children. The petitioners requested, their children to be produced before the court so the children can tell the court about the harassment caused to them due to the police investigation.

The petition is likely to be heard on Wednesday

Meanwhile, the court heard a petition filed by the parents of kids living in the ashram demanding a transfer of investigation. They also added more material to their petition showing how children in the Nithyananda ashram are embarrassed by cops during their investigation of the FIR registered by Vivekanandnagar police. To this petition, the state government told the court that all the children living in the ashram are free to leave the ashram and there is no restriction. The government also claimed that the police do not restrain any persons from meeting their children. It rubbished the charge levelled by these parents that the cops torture the children while conducting the investigation.

The next hearing will come up on November 29.
