Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday tweeted a picture of a Rangoli/Kolam of Lord Ram that she made at the temple in her home.
She tweeted the picture on the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Ayodhya to lay the foundation stone of the Ram Temple.
“In many homes, a rangoli/kolam is made afresh each day with rice powder. This, today, in the little temple at my place,” tweeted the minister.
Modi in Ayodhya
Modi arrived at Ayodhya on Wednesday morning for the groundbreaking ceremony.
The Ram temple is being built at a site where a mob demolished the 16th century Bajri Masjid on December 6, 1992.
Modi is the first prime minister to visit the Ram Janmabhoomi to offer prayers at the sanctum sanctorum.
Ram Lalla, as the deity is called, has been worshipped there since 1949.
Apart from Modi, Uma Bharti and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, other VIPs to attend the event include Mohan Bhagwat, RSS head and Iqbal Ansari.
The latter was a litigant in the temple-mosque dispute. He was the first one to be sent an invite.
Party veterans LK Advani got a last-minute invite for the event and will attend the Ayodhya event through video-conference amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Advani led the Ram temple movement in the 1990s.
The Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust, that is to build the temple also issued a last-minute invite to Murli Manohar Joshi, another prominent face of the Ram Temple movement.
