Nirma University registers FIR against man for obscene acts during online teaching session, issue reaches NCW

An FIR has been registered against an unknown person with the screen name Faizan Bakshi by the Nirma University for joining an online teaching session meant for the varsity’s law student and committing an obscene act. The issue has also reached the National Commission for Women after a varsity student filed a complaint in this regard.

Notably, the incident dates back to April 6 when a professor with the varsity Dr Pranav Saraswat was taking an online class on corporate accounting using the video conferencing application—Zoom. Law students of the varsity were taking part in the online session and suddenly a man with the screen name Faizan Bakshi joined the online session and indulged in indecent acts.

After the registration of FIR under sections of the Information Technology Act and IPC, police has initiated a probe in the matter.
