A new day of death has been set for the convicts of Nirbhaya case. Patiala House Court has issued the fourth death warrant for hanging of the four convicts. Now on March 20 at 5:30 in the morning, the convicts will be hanged in Tihar Jail. As soon as the hearing began, convict Pawan’s lawyer AP Singh said, I have not received any notice. I have appeared in court after seeing media reports. Singh said, I want to challenge the Supreme Court’s decision to dismiss mercy petition from Pawan. In this context, it is important to meet Pawan.
President Ram Nath Kovind has rejected the mercy plea of convict Pawan Gupta. With this, the way of hanging of the four convicts is now clear. After Pawan’s mercy petition was rejected, the prosecution once again moved the lower court to issue a new death warrant. Earlier, the Delhi government had also recommended the mercy plea of Pawan, convicted in the Nirbhaya case.
All Options Over For Nirbhaya Convicts
All the options of Mukesh, Vinay, Akshay and Pawan are over in the Nirbhaya case. On 17 February, the court issued a new death warrant against the four convicts, ordering the hanging on March 3, saying that further conviction would be ‘tainted’ by the victim’s right to speedy justice. The warrant that the court will now issue will be final.
