- The night curfew, which had been imposed to curb spread of Covid-19 cases, will now be in place from 11 pm to 6 am
Gandhinagar: The Covid-related night curfew that continues to be in place in eight municipal corporation areas will further be relaxed by an hour, the state government announced on Wednesday. The decision is among the several important ones taken during the core committee meeting on Wednesday, chaired by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. All these relaxations will be effective from July 31.
Earlier, the night curfew was lifted completely in all cities and towns, barring the eight municipal corporations where it continued to be in effect from 10 pm to 6 am the next day. With the latest relaxation, the curfew will begin from 11 pm, instead of 10 pm.
Hotels, restaurants to stay open till 10 pm
The state government also announced relaxation for hotels and restaurants in these eight cities. They will be allowed to remain open till 10 pm. Till now, they were allowed to function till 9 pm.
Besides, public events in open areas will be allowed to have 400 persons in attendance, instead of the current 200. Events in closed places will be allowed guests up to only 50 per cent capacity with adherence to Covid protocol, but the upper limit has been raised to 400.
Up to 4-feet-tall Ganesha idols this Chaturthi
With Ganesh Chaturthi not very far away, the state government has announced that Ganesha idols will be allowed at pandals.
