Covid-19 cases in Gujarat rise, night curfew in 8 cities extended till Dec 10

  • 31 of 40 new Covid cases in Gujarat on Tuesday reported from 6 major cities; night curfew to remain in effect from 1 am to 5 am in 8 cities

Gandhinagar: Gujarat recorded 40 fresh cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours ending Tuesday evening. On the same day, the state government extended the night curfew in eight municipal corporation areas to December 10.

According to the notification by the state Home ministry, night curfew in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Gandhinagar, Jamnagar, Junagadh, and Bhavnagar cities will be in place from 1 am to 5 am.

Only essential services will be available during the curfew hours.

Restaurants can remain open till midnight

Shops, commercial establishments and shopping complexes and restaurants will be allowed to remain open till midnight. Restaurants have been allowed to operate at a maximum of 75% capacity.

The upper limit of public at marriage events, political, social, religious and other events remains capped at 400 and that at funerals at 100.


31 of 40 new cases in 6 municipal corporations

Of the 40 new cases recorded in Gujarat, 31 were from six of eight municipal corporation areas in the state. Ahmedabad city had 10 cases, followed by Jamnagar and Vadodara cities with 7 each, Surat city 4, Bhavnagar city 2 and Gandhinagar city 1.

Among others, Navsari reported 3, Kutch 2 and Anand, Gir Somnath, Vadodara rural and Valsad 1 each.

The recovery was lesser, with 27 patients recovering from the infection during the day.

Over 5.38 lakh doses of Covid-19 were administered across Gujarat during the day.

The health department said 5.38 lakh vaccine doses were administered in the state in the last 24 hours to take the cumulative tally to 8.10 crore. The number of fully vaccinated people in the state stands at 3.52 crore, and that of partially vaccinated at 1.06 crore, as per Co-WIN data.
