Gujarat government hiked Jantri rates by 100 per cent on February 4, 2023. The new jantri rates will be applicable from Saturday, April, 15, 2023 across the state. Following the announcement regarding increase in the jantrri rate there was a state of confusion among people of the state. Builder Associations across the state submitted their representations to the state government. Gujarat government raised the jantri rates by 100 per cent after the period of 12 years at a stroke. Subsequently, builder association met CM Bhupendra Patel and made the representations.

In a meeting with CM Bhupendra Patel Builder Associations raised their objections against new jantri rates and also gave a few suggestions. Following the representation by the Builder Associations, implementation of new jantri rates was postponed and it was announced to apply it from April,15. According to the announcement regarding jantri rates, new rates will be now applicable from midnight of April, 14.
Meanwhile, State government spokesperson and State Health Minister Rishikesh Patel said the state government had extended the time limit for old jantri rates by a fortnight. Now there will be no extension, he asserted. The government might bring uniformity in jantri rates of different areas.
Due to heavy rush of the people, government clarified that registration of sale deed of properties will be allowed up to four months if stamp duty for the same is paid before April 14. Patel said there is no shortage of stamps and it may be purchased online also. The government has also authorized private vendors to sell the stamps.
