Pawar gave the statement while addressing a social function in Baramati on Sunday. NCP leader said, “ Population of our country is increasing day by the day. When Vilasrao Deshmukh was the chief minister, we used to disqualify elected representatives who had three children. We took this decision with caution. But some people want to know why we didn’t disqualify MPs and MLAs who had three children. I want to tell them the powers to disqualify MPs and MLAs lie with the Central Government. The Centre should use its powers to disqualify such MPs and MLAs.”
The NCP leader pointed out that India’s population is reaching the 142 crore mark. “We are responsible for this. We should all take this seriously. No religion or sect should believe that kids are God’s blessings. After all how can this be the blessing of God ?” he asked.
Pawar added, “If a couple has one child after the first delivery and then the woman gives birth to twins during the second delivery, then the parents cannot be blamed.”
