Aryan Khan can influence witnesses, tamper with evidence: NCB

Mumbai: The bail application of Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan, who was arrested in a case of drugs from onboard a cruise ship will come up for hearing before the Bombay High Court on Tuesday.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has objected to bail for Aryan Khan, citing possibility of tampering of evidence and influencing witnesses by him.

In its reply, the NCB has claimed that Shahrukh Khan’s manager Pooja Dadlani tried to influence witnesses amid ongoing investigation. Such interference was a “malafide attempt” to ensure that the investigation was derailed and the “quest of truth is obstructed”, it said.

Mukul Rohatgi to fight for Aryan

Former Attorney General of India Mukul Rohatgi reached the Bombay High Court on Tuesday afternoon. He will be appearing for Aryan Khan in the hearing of his bail petition. A special court in Mumbai had earlier rejected it, following which he had approached the Bombay HC which agreed to hear the case.

‘WhatsApp chat not admissible as evidence’

The NCB has claimed it has WhatsApp chats as evidence against the accused in the drugs-on-cruise case. However, Ali Kashif Khan, who is appearing for Munmun Dhamecha, has said that WhatsApp chats are not admissible as proofs in court as per the Supreme Court guidelines.
