NCB destroys 30,000 kg of seized drugs

New Delhi: More than 30,000 kg of drugs was destroyed by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) at four locations in the country on Saturday.

The operation was witnessed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah from Chandigarh via video conferencing.

The drug destruction operation is part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign to celebrate 75 years of Independence. Home Minister Amit Shah had said that a total of 75,000 kg of drugs would be destroyed to mark the occasion.

Till Friday, about 51,217.8402 kg of drugs had been disposed of by NCB teams in 11 different states. With Saturday’s addition, more than 80,000 kg of drugs has destroyed, which is more than the target.

Shah also address the National Conference on ‘Drug Trafficking and National Security’ in Chandigarh on the occasion.
