Actor Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik and Sushant Singh Rajput’s house manager Samuel Miranda have been arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) following probe into the drug angle in the suicide of the actor. They have been charged under various sections of the Anti-Narcotics law.
The two will be produced before a Mumbai court and were earlier taken to a city hospital for a routine medical examination. Media reports said the NCB is seeking five-day custody of Samuel and Showik.
Rhea is likely to be summoned for further questioning.
The NCB is probing allegations of drug abuse in the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case. Earlier a team of NCB had raided the home of Showik and Miranda. Showmik shares the house with his sister.
Showik and Miranda were summoned and questioned at the agency’s office earlier.
Arrests so far
The NCB has arrested seven people so far in this case including Showik Chakraborty’s and Samuel Miranda. Basit Parihar, Kaizan Ebrahim, Zaid Vilatra, Abbas Lakhani, Karan Arora are the others who were arrested earlier.
The agency is also looking into allegations of drug use by the late actor and his actor-girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty.
The lawyer of Sushant Singh Rajput’s family alleged on Saturday that Mumbai Police was hiding something very big after the NCB arrested Showik and Miranda.
“Arrests by NCB prove the fear of the family that there was something very big that Mumbai Police wanted to hide. There are several angles in this case,” Vikas Singh was quoted as saying by the media.
Rhea is the main accused in the death of 34-year-old actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The case is being probed by the NCB, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on money laundering charges and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Rajput was found dead at his duplex flat in Bandra on June 14.
