Jamnagar: A day after a bust of Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi, was installed in Jamnagar, it was vandalised by Jamnagar Congress president Digubha Jadeja and others.
The bust had been installed by the Hindu Sena at Hanuman Ashram.
The Hindu Sena had said it would install Nathuram Godse’s statue in Jamnagar in August. However, it was not allocated any space. Finally, it installed the bust at Hanuman Ashram. The group also chanted slogans of ‘Nathuram Godse amar rahe’.
On Tuesday, Digubha Jadeja asked how the bust of an anti-national who killed Mahatma Gandhi could be erected in the country.
“When the law fails to take its course, we are forced to take it in our hands,” Jadeja said as he attacked the face of the bust with a stone.
Meanwhile, the Hindu Mahasabha has said it will make a statue of Nathuram Godse with the soil brought from Ambala jail in Haryana where he was hanged in 1949.
