One more corporator from the city has tested positive for COVID-19. Interestingly, the corporator had attended a tulsi distribution programme organised as part of the World Environment Day celebration in a containment zone in the city.

Naranpura corporator Sadhna Joshi has been admitted to the SVP Hospital after she tested positive for COVID-19. Joshi along with Ahmedabad mayor Bijal Patel and other BJP leaders had attended a tulsi distribution programme at Mangalmurti Apartment in Naranpura, which had been a containment zone then. The programme had come under heavy criticism but the leaders had dismissed it stating that the area is quite big and the programme had been held at a place where no COVID-19 cases were reported.

Ahmedabad recorded 26 deaths in the last 24 hours due to the disease while it registered 344 new cases. The total number of cases in Ahmedabad stands at 16,306, while the death toll is 1,165.

Earlier, Congress corporator of Hatkeshwar-Bhaipura ward Ilakshiben Patel had also tested positive for the disease while former Congress leader and city corporator, Badruddin Sheikh had succumbed to the illness.
