‘Namaste Trump’: Gujarat Congress Warns of Protest at Motera Stadium During Trump Visit

US President Donald Trump is visiting India on 24-25 February. The Gujarat government has started the preparations for Trump’s visit. The picture of many areas of Ahmedabad has been changed. The sight of slums areas is shielded by a newly constructed walls. The government of Gujarat is spending money like anything on the welcome of Donald Trump. This money is not an income of government but is collected from the tax paid by the public. It is an attempt to create a picture of Gujarat where the poor are covered, not poverty.

The Opposition party said it will not hesitate to hold a protest against the BJP outside the stadium if the Centre fails to take appropriate decision over the apex court’s ruling on reservation in jobs for SC/ST communities. The Congress demanded that the NDA government file a review petition against the Supreme Court ruling or bring a Constitution amendment to nullify the order.

“The Congress will not let the rights of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Castes taken away. No one can snatch reservation rights till the Congress is there. This protest is just the beginning. In coming days, we will reach out to people in small towns and villages. If needed, we will hold protests at Motera and Delhi,” Gujarat Congress president Amit Chavda said while speaking at the rally.

Rajiv Satav In-charge of Gujarat Congress said, BJP and RSS have been trying to remove reservation for many years. Removal of reservation is their agenda whereas our great men had made this arrangement so that marginalized people get equal opportunities. BJP strongly objected to this threat of Congress, BJP spokesperson Bharat Pandya said that Modi-Trump tour will benefit not only Gujarat but the entire country. Thousands of people of Gujarat are living in America, Congress should not have threatened to oppose the visit of President of America.
