The tussle between actor Kangana Ranaut and the Maharashtra government took a fresh turn on Tuesday. Home minister Anil Deshmukh asked the Mumbai police to look into media reports on drug consumption by Kangana Ranaut. The actress was quick to refute the claims saying she will be more than happy to oblige Mumbai police and Anil Deshmukh.
Deshmukh orders probe against Kangana
Anil Deshmukh has clarified that his instruction for a probe was based on a request made by Shiv Sena legislators Sunil Prabhu and Pratap Sarnaik. The duo raised the request for a probe during the ongoing session of the Assembly.
“I have told the Mumbai Police to look into details of a media report that Kangana Ranaut was in a relationship with actor Adhyayan Suman, who had claimed in an old interview that she takes drugs and had also forced him to do so. Probe request was submitted by MLAs Sunil Prabhu and Pratap Sarnaik,” he said.
Kangana reacts to probe
Kangana Ranaut has said she will cooperate with the Mumbai police in this regard. She also asked the police to take her blood sample.
“I am more than happy to oblige the Mumbai Police and Home Minister Anil Deshmukh. Please do my drug tests, investigate my call records if you find any links to drug peddlers ever I will accept my mistake and leave Mumbai forever, looking forward to meeting you,” Kangana said.
Maharashtra CM criticises Kangana
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has criticised actor Kangana Ranaut following her remarks equating Mumbai with Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. Uddhav Thackeray, without naming Kangana, said some people don’t have gratitude for the city where they earn their livelihood.
The chief minister said this in the Maharashtra Assembly while paying tribute to Shiv Sena MLA Anil Rathod. “Some people have gratitude towards the city where they live and earn their livelihood, but some don’t. Anil bhaiya was from Rajasthan, but he made Maharashtra his home. He was a hardcore Shiv Sainik,” he had said.
Apart from Uddhav Thackeray, many other leaders have lambasted Kangana for her remark.
Congress lambasts Ranaut
Congress too attacked Kangana Ranaut claiming that she was driving BJP’s political agenda in the garb of seeking justice for Sushant Singh Rajput.
Party spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said: “To describe the business capital of the country as Pakistan occupied Kashmir is naive, incorrect, political opportunism and reprehensible which no reasonable person will accept. We reject such unfounded and politically motivated allegations being hurled through film actresses by BJP.”
