- Mukul Sangma has rubbished the reports
Shillong: There is a strong buzz that veteran Congress leader and former Meghalaya chief minister Mukul Sangma will leave Congress and join the Trinamool Congress in coming days. However, he has rubbished these reports, saying these are mere speculations.
According to sources, Sangma and 13 other MLAs from Meghalaya are likely to make the switch.
Sangma is said to be displeased with appointments in the state unit. At a press conference, he had said that he would push for a course correction in the party.
A few days back, when such reports of Sangma joining TMC had emerged, he had denied reports of meeting or being in touch with TMC leaders.
Meanwhile, there are reports that he will meet Rahul Gandhi next week to sort out issues within the party.
He had earlier met Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi on September 24.
If these rumours turn out to be true, the exit of a tall leader like Mukul Sangma will be a huge loss for Congress which is already facing a crisis in Punjab.
