New Delhi: More cash linked to TMC leader and West Bengal Cabinet minister Partha Chatterjee is tumbling out of his aide Arpita Mukherjee’s closets. In a raid on a second house belonging to Mukherjee, ED found cash running into a few crores as well as gold.
Approximately Rs 29 crore cash, besides gold and jewellery worth a few crores were recovered from her Belghoria flat.
The cash was counted with the help of bank officials and currency-counting machines. The counting continued till Thursday morning.
Earlier, ED had seized Rs 20 crore cash from her Tollygunge flat
The seized cash has been linked to Partha Chatterjee who has been accused of involvement in the School Service Commission (SSC) recruitment scam.
ED freezes Arpita Mukherjee’s bank accounts
The ED has put a freeze on three bank accounts of Arpita Mukherjee. She is currently in ED custody and is being interrogated.
Both Partha Chatterjee and Arpita have been sent to ED custody till August 3.
