As 10 employees of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) main office in Danapith test positive for COVID-19 in the last three days, municipal commissioner Mukesh Kumar has directed all departments to ensure that only 50% of the total staff are made to attend office on a rational basis.
Interestingly, the COVID-19 figures released by the state show a drop in the number of people contracting the disease even as the civic body’s main office reports several new cases.
Mukesh Kumar through an order has asked the various departments that unless it is unavoidable most communication and work should happen through email and mobile phones.
In the last three days, 10 employees of the planning, audit and Central office in AMC’s Danapith office have tested positive for the disease. It is now suspected that several other employees working on the sixth floor of the building where these departments are located may be infected.
Kumar’s order asks officials to avoid direct contact with people and colleagues and to ensure that only 50% of class 3 and 4 staff are called that too on a rotational basis.
It also advises the officials working at other offices of ACM in the city to avoid unnecessary travel to other offices to prevent further spread of the disease.
