Ahmedabad: Popularly known by the name KK, the powerful and trusted bureaucrat of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Gujarat, k Kailashanathan, will be given an extension for the next two years. Earlier, he was given an extension in 2017. His tenure is scheduled to expire in December 2019 and will be given an extension for the next two years till December 2021.
1979 batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre. Kailashanathan has been serving the CM office for over a decade. In 2006, he was appointed as Principal Secretary to the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi. After being promoted to the post of Additional Chief Secretary in 2012, he was appointed as Principal Secretary to the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi on the second day of his retirement in 2013.
After retiring in 2013, he has been given an extension for the last 6 years. K Kailashanathan, popularly known as KK is one of the most trusted ally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is also considered one of the powerful bureaucrats. After Narendra Modi became Prime Minister in 2014, Kailashanathan is coordinating with PM Modi on matters relating to the state. After Narendra Modi he has worked with Anandiben Patel and Vijay Rupani. He was given a 2-year extension in December 2017. Which is set to expire in December 2019. General Administration Department has finalised his extension for 2 more years as the Chief Principal Secretary to Vijay Rupani. The decision has be taken from Delhi and the state will implement it soon.
Kailashanathan is one of the trusted officers of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.He had played an important role in the 2007, 2012 and 2017 assembly elections.
