Four cops were injured in Bhuj after a mob attacked them when they tried to stop illegal sand mining in the area. The incident happened in Juna village of Bhuj in Kutch district on Monday night. All injured cops were admitted to a hospital and are reported to be stable. The cops have identified the main instigator as Suleiman Sadhak Sama, a resident of Juna village.
Local media reports said that a mob of 100 people attacked the patrolling team of Khawada police station (PS). So far 36 people have been booked for attempt to murder and rioting. Cops also began a combing operation to nab more accused in the case.
Media reports said the cops had gone to stop illegal sand mining in the area but some anti-social elements began to pelt stones at them. They then attacked the cops with rods and sticks.
The injured officials have been identified as police sub-inspector and incharge officer of Khawada PS, Yuvrajsinh Jadeja, police constable Mahipatsinh Vaghela, head constable Manek Gadhvi and police driver Keshar Patel.
