Manpasand gymkhana raid: Dariapur PI, D-staff PSI suspended

  • Nine PCB employees transferred in the case

Ahmedabad: The Manpasand Gymkhana raid in Dariapur continues to be intensely debated. The alleged patronage of police that the gambling den seemed to have enjoyed and flourished under in the past has caused a lot of embarrassment to the department, especially the Ahmedabad police commissioner. In the latest development, nine employees of the Prevention of Crime Branch (PCB) were transferred while Dariapur PI RI Jadeja, D-staff PSI KC Patel and others were suspended.

The case

It is noteworthy that the office of the assistant commissioner of police is located near Manpasand gymkhana, yet that did not deter the gamblers from carrying out their nefarious activities. During the recent raid at the gymkhana, 183 gamblers were arrested and items worth over Rs 11 lakh were seized. That the den continued to operate right under the nose of the police had been raising many a question, but no concrete action had been taken so far in the case.

Now, with the rath yatra behind them, the police seem to be keen on getting things moving. On Thursday evening, police commissioner Sanjay Srivastava ordered the transfer of nine employees of PCB

It may be noted that the vigilance team as well as the police commissioner’s squads have been conducting several raids in areas like Shahibaug and Sardarnagar that are covered in zone 4 of Ahmedabad police, said sources.
