New Delhi: BJP MP Manoj Tiwari had to be taken to the hospital after he was injured during a protest outside the house of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The protest by BJP leaders, led by Manoj Tiwari, was against the ban on Chhath Puja announced by the Delhi government.
Opposing the ban, the BJP cited public sentiment and demanded that public celebration not be banned. The leaders called for such celebration to be allowed with strict Covid protocol.
The BJP leaders had urged people to join the protest against the ban outside Kejriwal’s house.
In view of the law and order situation, the CM’s house was barricaded by the police on Tuesday.
A crowd gathered at the spot and began protesting. To disperse them, police personnel used water cannon. Tiwari, who had climbed the barricade, too was hit. He fell down and got hurt.
He was taken to the emergency ward of Safdarjung Hospital where he was undergoing treatment.
