Maninagar has joined the list of red zones in the city after the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) declared it as a containment zone. AMC Commissioner Vijay Nehra during his routine briefing on the Covid19 status in the city said that 10 officers have been appointed to look after each of the containment zones. An area is declared as a containment zone after an unusually high number of Covid19 cases are reported from there. It means the area is now a red zone.
With the addition of Maninagar, the total number of red zones in the city has touched 10. The other nine red zones are Jamalpur, Khadia, Dariyapur, Shahpur, Asarwa, Gomtipur, Saraspur, Danilimda and Behrampura. Of the total 10 red zones, three are in the south zone, five in the central zone and one each in the east and north zone.
Meanwhile, two more bridges have been closed in the city. The Ambedkar Bridge connecting Paldi to Danilimda and Sardar Bridge connecting Paldi to Jamalpur has been closed for traffic. It should be noted that an unusually high number of cases are being reported in the eastern part of the city. Ahmedabd has so far registered 3,543 cases and 185 deaths due to Covid19,
