At a time when reports of migrants walking long distance to reach home are doing the rounds, another such case has emerged. But in this case, it was the call of love and not home that inspired a youth to make the long journey from Ahmedabad to Varanasi.
The incident came to light after a missing person complaint was filed by a woman in Mirzamurad Police Station in Varanasi. The complaint stated that the woman’s daughter had gone missing. Police tracked the mobile phone of the missing girl and found her with her boyfriend in the Lanka area of Varanasi.
Investigations revealed that the girl was in love with her boyfriend who has been working in Ahmedabad. They had got to know each other through a missed call and had been in a relationship for sometime now. Though staying miles a part, the two would talk often and had decided to meet each other sometime back. But the lockdown came into force and as a result the two could not meet.
The youth who was working in Ahmedabad decided to walk down all the way to Varanasi to meet his girlfriend. On Tuesday evening, the day he reached Varanais, the girl set out from her home on a bicycle. They then met at the Lanka area in Varanasi and have been together since.
Though the police brought the couple back, the girl refused to leave with her parents. It took the cops and her parents a lot of cajoling before she could be convinced to go back to her family.
