Man who threatened Surat woman PSI nabbed from Madhya Pradesh

  • Accused had sent obscene messages and threats to the PSI who was investigating a harassment case against him

Surat: A man accused of evading arrest and sending threats to a woman PSI of Surat police was finally nabbed from Madhya Pradesh, the Surat police said on Thursday. The accused has been brought to Surat.

According to AM Parmar, division SP of Surat police, Harivansh’s wife had lodged a complaint of harassment against him, his parents and sister with Dindoli police. A case had been registered against them under various sections. The accused sought anticipatory bail to avoid arrest. While Harivansh’s plea was rejected, the remaining three were granted anticipatory bail. However, when they failed to comply with the conditions, their bail was rejected.

On getting information that the family was in Uttar Pradesh, a team of Dindoli police reached their village to arrest them. However, Harivansh had managed to escape. His parents were arrested and later released on bail.

Allegedly angered by this action, Harivansh found the number of the woman PSI who was part of the investigating team and began to send her obscene and threatening messages. Following this, another case was registered against him, this time for harassing the woman PSI.  Harivansh even allegedly called higher officials and threatened to have them removed from job.  Dindoli police finally arrested him from Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday.
