Man booked under PASA for inflammatory speech from mosque during unscheduled Azan call

A man in Bhuj has been booked under Prevention of Anti Social Activities (PASA) Act for making inflammatory speeches through a mike of a mosque during an unscheduled azan. DGP, Shivanand Jha, during his routine briefing said that a man in Bhuj in Kutch district, who had used the azaan mike in a mosque has been sent to jail in Surat.

Giving details of the case, he said that the person had entered the mosque in the dead of the night in Bhuj on May 7. He then used the Azaan mike, to make some speech that was inflammatory in nature and could have caused communal disturbances.

Earlier local media had identified the person as Mohammed Abdullah, a resident of Sanjognagar in Bhuj. They said that he entered the mosque at around 2.20 am and gave an unscheduled azan (the morning prayer) and then gave an inflammatory speech too. Kutch district has recorded 14 cases of Covid19 and 1 death due to the disease so far.
