Vadodara: Man arrested for thrashing wife’s paramour who later died in hospital


A man has been arrested by the Vadodara Police for allegedly thrashing a person for trespassing into his house, who eventually died in a hospital.

Notably, the victim was reportedly the paramour of the accused’s wife and the latter had seen him and his wife in a compromising position after entering home in Bajwa locality of the city.

Police said that Mahesh Panchal allegedly thrashed Mahesh Padhiyar in the intervening night between Monday and Tuesday after seeing him in a compromising position with his wife.

After thrashing Padhiyar, the accused called the police. A team of cops reached the site and detained Padhiyar under section 151 of the Criminal Procedure Code in the wee hours on Tuesday, according to a release from the Vadodara Police.

Victim fainted in police lockup

Hours after being detained, the victim fainted in police lockup and he was taken to a government hospital for treatment. However, he died while availing treatment, the release provides.

The family members of the deceased, however, claimed that he was tortured in police custody and refused to accept the body.

Following the death of the victim, the body was sent for post mortem. The post mortem report revealed that the Padhiyar died due to injuries sustained on his head and nose. The accused in the case has been now charged with murder under IPC section 302, the cops said.
