Won’t tolerate bullying by Delhi, says Mamata Banerjee in Goa

Panaji: The bullying by Delhi (Central government) will not be tolerated, said West Bengal Chief Minister and All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) chief Mamata Banerjee in Goa on Thursday. She was addressing a gathering of party workers at International Centre in Dona Paula in the coastal state where she is on a three-day tour.

In Konkani she said, “Dillichi dadagiri anik naka (No more bullying by Delhi).”

Going all out in her attempt to connect with the people, she said she believed in secularism. “India is my motherland. If Bengal is my motherland, so is Goa,” she said.

On her visit to Goa, she said she was like their sister and was not an outsider.

She said she was not going to be the CM, but wanted “to see that there is a system, policing, federalism and an anti-corruption government” in Goa.

“I was never asked why I came to Goa when I came to inaugurate a film festival or for development works,” the TMC chief said.

She said she knew each and every part of the country better than anyone else as she had been the railway minister twice.

Mamata Banerjee also drew comparisons between Bengal and Goa, saying people of both states love fish and football and that both have the same folk culture.

Taking a jibe at Congress, Mamata Banerjee said that it had contested for 60 years, but had not done anything. The party let the BJP come to power. Where is the guarantee that this will not happen again?” she asked.

Later, she also interacted with fishermen at Malim jetty.

After Nafisa Ali, tennis legend Leander Paes joins TMC

Hours after actress Nafisa Ali joined Trinamool Congress in Goa, tennis legend and 18-time Grand Slam champion Leander Paes, too was welcomed by the party.

Leander Paes joined TMC in Goa in presence of party supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

“We are extremely delighted to share that Shri @Leander joined us today in the presence of our Hon’ble Chairperson @MamataOfficial! Together, we shall ensure that every single person in this nation sees the Dawn of Democracy that we have been waiting for since 2014!” the All India Trinamool Congress tweeted.

Mamata Banerjee described Leander Paes as her “sweet and cute younger brother”.
