Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde won the trust vote in the Assembly by a wide margin of 164-99 votes. Three MLAs abstained from voting.
Early in the floor test, it seemed a smooth win for Shinde. The trust vote sealed his claim to the chair and also the loss of Uddhav Thackeray.
Eknath Shinde has claimed that his faction is the real Shiv Sena that is following the ideology of Balasaheb Thackeray.
The floor test was conducted on Monday after the Supreme Court gave the go-ahead.
Just ahead of the test, one more Shiv Sena MLA, Santosh Bangar, joined the Shinde faction.
Immediately after the floor test, several MLAs of the Thacekeray Shiv Sena left the Assembly.
BJP leader and Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis thanked the MLAs who supported Shinde and said he would always support the CM, adding that there would be no power struggle between them.
