Maharashtra: BJP MLA’s son, 6 other medical students killed in car crash on way to Wardha

Nagpur: Seven medical students were killed when their car fell off a bridge near Selsura on Monday night.

The deceased included Avishkar Rahangdale, son of BJP MLA from Maharashtra’ Tirora constituency  Vijay Rahangdale.

The mishap took place at around 11.30 pm on Monday (January 24).

According to Wardha SP Prashant Holkar, the deceased were on their way to Wardha.

Avishkar and another deceased, Pawan Shakti, were first year MBBS students, while the other deceased, Neeraj Chauhan, Vivek Nandan, Pratyush Singh, Shubham Jasiwal, were final year students of Sawangi Medical College in Wardha.

According to initial reports, the driver of the car lost control on it, resulting in the fall from the bridge.

Condoling the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia compensation to the kin of each of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
