Mahamandaleshwar Bharti Bapu no more, PM Modi condoles death


Respected Gujarat seer Mahamandaleshwar Bharti Bapu died on Sunday due to age-related complications at the Bharti Ashram in Ahmedabad’s Sarkhej area. He was 93. His last rites will be performed at his Girnar-based ashram in Junagadh.

PM Modi, Amit Shah condoles death

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among a host of people who condoled the death of the revered seer. PM Modi said that his teachings will continue to inspire people. “The teachings of Mahamandaleshwar Vishwambhar Bharti Ji Maharaj of Junagadh Bharti Ashram will always guide us. I offer my condolences to millions of his followers. May God give peace to his soul. Aum Shanti,” PM Modi wrote on Twitter.

Union home minister Amit Shah too paid his respect to the seer. He tweeted, “I am deeply pained by the passing away of 1008 Mahamandaleshwar Bharti Bapu. We can never forget his contribution of starting a nationwide movement against addictions. May God grant peace to his soul and give strength to his followers to endure the pain.”

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani also tweeted that he was saddened by the news of Mahamandaleshwar Bharti Bapu’s demise.

Bharti Bapu recently attended BJP event

On April 6, senior saint of Dashnami parampara, Mahamandaleshwar Bharti Bapu had attended one of the foundation day event organised by the BJP across the state. Bharti Bapu had attended the event at Dholka in the presence of Gujarat education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama and several party workers.

Chudasama after a few days of attending the event had tested positive for COVID-19. Bharti Bapu was sitting next to the minister during the event.
