The state government in Madhya Pradesh has declared nine districts as Covid19 free. All the nine had earlier reported cases of coronavirus. Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Health, Mohammed Suleman was quoted by the media stating that the nine districts of Barwani, Agar-Malwa, Shajapur, Sheopur, Alirajpur, Harda, Shahdol, Tikamgarh and Betul- have become coronavirus-free.
He also said that no Covid19 cases were reported from eight districts of the state so far. The state has, meanwhile, ramped up testing and so far 93,849 samples have been tested in the state for the disease.
Of the 4,595 coronavirus positive cases reported in the state till Friday, 45 per cent were active ones. As of May 15, 44 of the 52 districts had reported Covid19 cases in the state with some districts reporting it after the arrival of migrant labourers from other states, an official was quoted.
The officials have also been asked to conduct proper screening of migrants, who are returning to the state from other severely infected states. So far 3.39 lakh migrants have arrived in MP.
