A low-intensity earthquake of magnitude 2.2 hit Delhi on Friday, fourth in around a month, the National Centre for Seismology (NCS) said.
The epicentre was Pitampura in north Delhi.
“Low-intensity earthquake of magnitude 2.2 hits Pitampura in Delhi,” NCS was quoted by a news agency. The NCS said the quake occurred at 11.28 am at a depth of eight kilometres.
A medium-intensity earthquake of magnitude 3.4 hit Delhi on May 10. The epicentre of the quake was near Wazirpur in northeast Delhi.
The same location and nearby areas were the epicentre of the earthquakes on April 12 and 13 of magnitude 3.5 and 2.7, respectively.
Of the five seismic zones, Delhi falls under the fourth zone.
