During Chaitra Navratri, we celebrate our spirituality and culture. However, during this time, many people are worried about eating too much oily and unhealthy food, such as Sabudana vada or any other deep-fried food. Our ‘Sabudana Thalipeeth’ is a perfect alternative to Vada if you are someone who loves to eat it but hesitates because of its preparation time or unhealthiness.

Traditionally, a Thalipeeth in Maharashtra is prepared with five or six different types of flours and vegetables for breakfast. Sabudana Thalipeeth is a healthy and popular food variety in Maharashtrian cuisine. Here is a recipe for the ‘Sabudana Thalipeeth’ if you are unsure how to prepare it:
What do you need?
500 gm Sabudana (washed and soaked for more than 7 hours)
3 boiled potatoes (mid-size potatoes).
Green chilies
1 cup peanut powder
1 inch of ginger
1 spoon of jeera
Salt as per taste
How to make Sabudana Thalipeeth?
Mix soaked Sabudana with boiled potatoes and mash it. Add all of the ingredients peanut powder, jeera, salt, and ginger-chili paste to the mashed potatoes and Sabudana mix. Let it sit for 30-45 minutes, add water only if needed to make a rough dough-like consistency. Brush the oil on a nonstick pan. Take one small dough ball of the mix and spread it on the pan with wet fingers. (You can check the video of Thalipeeth making for further reference.) Make the Talipeeth crispy on both sides.
Voila! Your healthy Sabudana Thalipeeth is ready. You can serve it with curd or mint chutney.
Special tips:
If you are a newbie in the kitchen, check the quality of the Sabudana. Overstocked Sabudana can ruin the dish’s quality. If you do not know how to make Thalipeeth properly, use a spatula or flat base bowl to spread the mixer.
