Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Sunday said the relaxations prescribed in the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs during the lockdown 4.0 scheduled till May 31 will be implemented from Tuesday.
The CM said relaxations will be provided during lockdown 4.0, but standard operating procedures (SOPs) need to be developed and the authorities need to deliberate on how these relaxations need to be implemented outside the containment zones.
He said the government is also considering restarting public transport and ST bus services for the benefit of the citizens, but before the same is implemented, it needs to be ascertained how the same can be done amid the coronavirus pandemic.
He also said guidelines will be issued for shops and commercial establishments outside the containment zones after the SOPs are formulated.
The CM also requested people to continue to support the government during the extended lockdown and follow the principles of social distancing and wear masks. He also said spitting in Gujarat will carry a fine of Rs 200 and a similar amount will be imposed as fine for not wearing a mask.
He also said all essential items will be made available to people residing in the containment zones. He said people residing in containment zones should understand that the lockdown has been imposed for their well-being and they must cooperate with the authorities in the war against coronavirus.
