Liquor Prohibition is only on papers in Gujarat: Mevani

Ahmedabad: Vadgam MLA Jignesh Mevani comes forward to support Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Ghelot’s remarks on liquor consumption in Gujarat. Mevani said in a tweet that the Act of prohibition in Gujarat is merely an act on paper. Liquors dens still exists and consumed by the public in Gujarat.

Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Ghehlot said in a public meeting that almost every house in Gujarat is consuming liquor. Jignesh Mevani tweeted “By shamelessly allowing liquor to be sold in each and every nook and corner of Gujarat, BJP government has spoilt the future of thousands of Gujaratis. This is not the Gujarat that Gandhi and Sardar dreamt of. Instead of attacking Mr. Gehlot, Mr. Rupani be ashamed!” on statement of Ashok Ghehlot.

Last year Mevani leaded a Janta Raid on liquor den in Ghandhinagar along with OBC leader Alpesh Thakor and Patidar leader Hardik Patel.

Mevani further tweeted that, “Indeed there is exaggeration when Rajasthan CM @ashokgehlot51 said that liquor is consumed the most in Gujarat. But can we deny the existence of this problem and play with the future of our youth?”

Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani fumed on the statement of Ghalot. He said it is an insult of 6 crore Gujaratis and the residents of Gujarat will not forgive Ghalot for this statement.
