- Mudasir Pandit was said to be involved in recent attack that killed 2 policemen and 2 civilians in Sopore
Sopore: Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Mudasir Pandit and two other terrorists were gunned down in an encounter with security forces which started on Sunday evening.
The encounter took place in Tantraypora Brath village of Sopore in north Kashmir, according to Jammu and Kashmir police.
Kashmir IG Vijay Kumar was quoted as saying that Pandit had been involved in killing of three policemen, two councillors and two civilians recently. The cops and the civilians were killed in a terror attack on the police in Sopore on June 12. According to police, LeT was behind the attack. Pandit was believed to be involved in that attack.
Following the incident, joint teams of Army, J&K police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had been conducting search operations in the vicinity.
Pandit was also involved in several terror activities earlier, the police said.
