Kinnaur: A major landslide was reported in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday. According to Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) officials, a truck, an HRTC bus and a few vehicles reportedly came under the rubble. Teams of ITBP were rushed to the spot for rescue. As per official reports, bodies of five victims have been retrieved so far.
“A landslide reported on Reckong Peo- Shimla Highway in #Kinnaur District in Himachal Pradesh today at around 12.45 Hrs. One truck, a HRTC Bus and few vehicles reported came under the rubble. Many people reported trapped. ITBP teams rushed for rescue. More details awaited,” ITBP said in a tweet on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the tweet by ITBP at 6 pm on Wednesday, a total of five bodies had been retrieved. Available reports state that at least four persons have died and 12 injured have been sent to the hospital. More than 30 people are feared missing.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Himachal Pradesh CM regarding the landslide. He assured the state government of all possible support in the rescue operations.
