Residents, accompanied by Congress workers, stage demonstration at AMC ward office; demand basic facilities
Ahmedabad: Frustrated by the lack of basic amenities even after a decade of being merged with the city, residents of Lambha ward of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) staged demonstrations at the civic body’s Lambha ward office. They were accompanied by Congress workers.
The demonstrators submitted a memorandum to the authorities demanding basic facilities.
The area was merged with the AMC 10 years ago. Despite this, the residents claim, the authorities have not bothered about carrying out any developmental work in the area and have been lackadaisical about it. They have alleged that Lambha has been meted out step-motherly treatment all these years.
According to residents, the roads in the area are in a bad shape. Even the roads that were to be developed as per the town planning (TP) scheme are yet to be opened. The sewage and storm water network is yet to be completed in the area, they claim. Also, they have been facing several issues related to drinking water. They claimed that despite repeated representations, their problems remain unsolved.
