Lalu Prasad Yadav trying to poach NDA MLAs, alleges Sushil Modi; releases audio clip

Just before the election for the post of Bihar Assembly Speaker, BJP leader Sushil Modi alleged that RJD’s Lalu Prasad Yadav is trying to poach NDA legislators in a bid to bring down the Nitish Kumar government.  Notably, Lalu Prasad Yadav is currently behind bars and serving his sentence for the fodder scam.

The allegations by Modi against the veteran leader are based on an audio clip where the RJD leader is trying to lure a BJP legislator to abstain from voting in the Speaker’s election. Notably, the audio clip also provides that the RJP leader offered a ministerial berth for the MLA if he refrains from voting.

In the clip shared by Sushil Modi, Lalu Prasad Yadav is allegedly heard saying the MLA to remain absent and use coronavirus as an excuse, when he showed some reluctance.

“We will make you minister. In tomorrow’s election of Speaker, you will have to support us. Once the speaker goes then we will see,” says the RJD leader. After the BJP leader shows reluctance saying he is in the party, the veteran politician says, “Absent ho jao. Corona ho gaya tha.”

Gujarat Exclusive has not verified the authenticity of the audio clip tweeted by Sushil Modi.

Meanwhile, Vijay Kumar Sinha has been elected as the Speaker of the Bihar Assembly.

RJD rejects allegations against Lalu Prasad Yadav

RJD has straightaway rejected Sushil Modi’s claims. RJP spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari on Tuesday said, “There is always a danger to a government with a managed mandate. Sushil Modi is accepting this and he is afraid that the NDA government can fall anytime. Sushil Modi is making unreasonable allegations to deviate from the real issues.”

Tiwari added that Sushil Modi is trying to remain in news by making sensational allegations as he has been removed from the post of deputy chief minister.

Lalu Prasad Yadav’s status

Lalu Prasad is in Ranchi, where he is serving the sentence awarded by a special CBI court in a number of fodder scam cases.

Initially lodged at the Hotwar Central Jail, he was moved to the RIMS hospital in Ranchi on medical grounds. For the last few months, he has been putting up at the bungalow allotted to the RIMS director.
