New Delhi: The bullets fired during the Lakhimpur Kheri violence on October 3 were shot from the licensed guns of Ankit Das and Ashish Mishra, the Forensic Sciences Lab confirmed on Tuesday.

The farmers had alleged that the duo had fired several rounds at Lakhimpur Kheri. Eight people, including four farmers and a journalist, were killed in the violence.

The police subsequently seized the weapons and sent to the FSL on October 15.

Ashish Mishra is the son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra and is among the 13 accused arrested in the case.

The Supreme Court took up the hearing in the case following a PIL by two lawyers. On Monday, it expressed unhappiness over the status report filed by the Uttar Pradesh government and suggested appointment of a former HC judge of another court like Punjab and Haryana HC to oversee the investigation.
