Lakhimpur Kheri: Ashish Mishra reaches Crime Branch office


Lucknow: Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra, appeared before the police on Saturday morning, a day after missing the summons. He is accused of running over farmers with his jeep on October 3, leaving four of them dead.

Ashish Mishra had been issued summons on Thursday to appear before the police on Friday morning. However, he did not report there. Later, Ajay Mishra said he could not come due to poor health.

The UP police DIG had waited at Lakhimpur police station for three hours on Friday for Ashish Mishra.

An FIR had been registered against Ashish for murder. However, no action was taken against him. The Supreme Court had taken suo motu cognizance of the case and had asked the UP government to file a status report in the case.

Meanwhile UP CM Yogi Adityanath has said that his government will not act under pressure and will not arrest anyone just on the basis of allegations.


Sidhu ends fast

Punjab Congress leader Navjyot Singh Sidhu ended his fast on Saturday after Ashish Mishra appeared before the police. He had started the fast on Friday at the house of journalist Raman Kashyap after announcing that he would do so if the accused was not arrested. Kashyap was killed in Lakhimpur Kheri violence
