Gujarat Government organized a mock drill to check the preparedness to tackle the situation of Covid-19 as per direction of Union Government. Gujarat Health Minister Rishikesh Patel said, about mock drill, that people need not panic by Covid-19, people just need to be alert themselves. State government expressed its concern over rising cases of Covid and has organized immediate mock drill. The flaws, found during the mock drill, will be resolved.

Gujarat Health Minister said, “The exercise has been conducted as a precautionary measure. State government has increased vigilance following a direction, by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, for holding mock drill. Mock drill has been conducted at all hospitals, Government and private, across the state.
About spike in Covid cases in the state, health minister said, “Currently mask is not mandatory. But, people should put on mask for their safety. Also, in existing SOP mask is not compulsory, but for protection it is necessary.” Health minister accepted about the shortage of vaccine dozes in the state. Gujarat has asked to provide 3 lakh dose of the vaccine, health minister expressed the hope to get the required stock within few days.
Rishikesh Patel inspected the mock drill at Gandhinagar civil hospital and assessed the preparedness of the hospital to handle a high influx of patients. Patel enquired about the availability of medicines, the functioning of ventilators and the PSA Oxygen plant at the civil hospital. He also took stock of the availability of beds and the functioning of the oxygen supply line from the PSA plant to beds in the wards.
