Former president of Medical Council of India (MCI) Dr. Ketan Desai and his wife received the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
Notably, Desai was the first person to get the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Ahmedabad. He had taken the first dose of the vaccine in the presence of Chief Minister Vijay Rupani at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital on January 16.
The second shot of the COVID-19 vaccine is given at least 28 days after the first dose of the vaccine. Almost 6.95 lakh people have received the first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine as of February 17. The majority of the people with a high risk of contracting diseases like doctors, medical staff and other frontline warriors including policemen got vaccinated during the initial days of the immunisation drive.
People should not hesitate to get vaccinated, says Ketan Desai
Dr. Ketan Desai, while taking the second shot of the vaccine at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, said that people should not hesitate or fear to take the vaccine.
“More people should come forward for vaccination without any fear. Not a single death has been reported due to COVID-19 in 18 states during the last 24 hours,” he said.
6.95 lakh people vaccinated in Gujarat
Until Tuesday, 6.95 lakh people have received the first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine in Gujarat. The number of active cases of the viral infection is also declining across the country, with Gujarat reporting 1,699 active cases as of February 16. More than 4,400 people have succumbed to COVID-19 in the state. More than 1 crore people have been tested for the viral infection in Gujarat.
